- The M.A. in Language Studies is a taught degree, comprising part-time study over a period of two academic years (24 months, beginning 1 September and ending 31 August). The Course aims to provide a "broad-based training in thinking about language" and in observing and dealing with language phenomena and language behaviour in a range of actual situations, against the requisite theoretical background. The approach will be up-to-date and based on current theory and methodology. The course aims to apply theory to real-life situations against a complex background of attitudes, perceptions, and practical needs, especially in the Hong Kong context where varieties of English and Chinese co-exist and intermingle.
