Program Overview
- Program Description:
- The full-time Bachelor’s programme consists of a first-year phase (or propaedeutic year) and a main phase (three years). Each year is subdivided into four ten-week blocks, usually with eight weeks of lessons and two weeks of exams.
The study programme includes a major and a minor. The major consists of compulsory (and other) subjects provided as part of the study programme. The minor consists of elective subjects offered by your own study programme, other The Hague University of Applied Sciences programmes, or other universities of applied sciences.
Peace, safety, trade, the greenhouse effect and human rights are all issues governed by international agreements. These agreements are made by governments and a range of international organisations, as well as companies. Do you have acute analytical skills, strong self-discipline and good social skills? Can you see yourself addressing international problems? Do you have a passion for politics, ideas, and good powers of persuasion? Are you ready to help design international policy?
The programme considers it important for students to learn to work and cooperate using as many different methods and group compositions as possible. Information and communication skills are also important. We therefore offer a combination of traditional classroom teaching, lectures, discussions, group/individual assignments and project activities. Practical assignments offer preparation for working in real organisations. To receive your diploma, you will therefore be expected to do more than just attend lectures and take notes: we expect you to take an active approach to studying.
- Setting Description:
- Year 1 The first year focuses on establishing basic knowledge, and introduces practical work from the outset. During the programme, you will ‘learn by doing’. The entire study programme revolves around the four basic disciplines that make up Public Administration – political science, economics, law and sociology – supported by research skills, professional English skills, and study career advising. Year 2 As in the first year, you will develop the knowledge and skills that are required in your professional career, and work in teams on group projects that are based on real situations. Year 3 The last two years of the programme involve working on real cases, e.g. for a government organisation or multi-national corporation. More and more governments are expressing a desire to work with companies, and major corporations are being confronted with government policy. The knowledge and skills that you acquire in this manner can be applied to a wide range of roles and responsibilities. You
