Program Description:

Georgia State offers many summer and maymester programs led and taught by Georgia State professors. These programs tend to be focused on a particular topic or theme and range from 10 to 20 participants, though some are larger. Students participate in lectures, site visits, excursions, and tours as part of the program. These programs usually last between two and six weeks. Students find these programs a great way to really get to know their professors and other GSU students while earning GSU credits and grades. Students do not have to study on a program related to their major, but they certainly can. Financial aid and scholarships are available.

Itinerary: August 01 Atlanta-Beijing Board Korean Airline KE 36 leaves Atlanta at 13:00 and arrive Seoul at 16:40+1day August 02 Seoul-Arrival Beijing Change to KE 853 leaves Seoul at 19:00 and arrive Beijing local time at 20:05 the same day. Meet your guide at the Beijing International airport and transfer back to the hotel Jiangxi Hotel or Same class August 03 Beijing Whole day tour to the Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. In the Afternoon , you will Visit the Summer Palace . August 03 Beijing Whole day tour to Badaling Great Wall ,visit the temple of Heaven in the afternoon. August 04 Beijing-Xi'an Free during the day. Take the night train to Xi'an ,sleep over night on the train. August 07 Arrival at Xi'an Arrival at Xi'an In the the morning After Breakfast to the Wild Goose Pogoda and the Ancient City Wall. Enjoy the Tang Dynasty show in the evening Days hotel or same class. August 08 Xi'an Full day tour to the Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses Museum August 09 Xi'an-Lhasa Take the flight to Lahsa ,meet your guide there. To enjoy the free afternoon and get accustomed to the height. Jardin Secret hotel or same class August 10 Lhasa Visit the most impressing attraction of Lhasa -- Potala Palace , Followed by Jokhang Temple , August 11 Lhasa V isit Drepung Monastery which dates back to the early 15th century. Sera Monastery and Norbulingkha -- the summer resort for the Dalai Lama. Visit Barkhor Street after. Augsut 11 Lhasa/Chongqing Take the flight to Chongqing and board on Victoria #5 for the Cruise tour on the Yangtze River. August 12 Fengdu (Ghost City) One of the Yangtze's spectacular sites, Fengdu, with temples constructed on the Mingshan Hill by the river bank and many statues of ghosts and devils in thetemples, the city is known as "the Ghost City ". It might be replaced by Precious Stone according to water level decided by the cruise. August 13 Small Gorges (Shennong Stream) Today experience a lifetime adventure to the tributary crystal-clear water Shennong Stream, a close-up view of the awesome Little Gorges. Return to the cruise in the afternoon for a spectacular journey through Qutang gorge which is the shortest but most dramatic of the three.(BLD) August 14 Arrival Yichang/Shanghai/Suzhou Shore excursion to Three Gorges Dam.The cruise will go through the Xiling Gorge , the longest and fiercest of the famed three with great rapids and rock formations. Followed by Wu Gorge with misty peaks and pillars. Shore excursion to visit Three Dam Construction Site. Arrive Yichang around noon.Fly to Shanghai airport .Suzhou guide will pick you up and drive to Suzhou. Castle hotel or same level August 15 Suzhou/Shanghai Suzhou-- "Heaven on Earth" " Venice of the Orient" by Marco Polo in the 13th century. Suzhou has the most beautiful Gardens in china. Visit the most beautiful garden-Net Master Garden with ponds, zigzag bridges, rock formation hill, exotic flowers, etc. Each garden takes dozens of years to finish. Silk Factory; Visit the Grand Canal ; Double embroidery Research Institute. Drive to Shanghai Holiday Inn Express Shanghai Putuo August 16 Shanghai City tour to Yu Garden, an old downtown of shanghai; Jade Buddha Temple ; Shanghai Museum ; The BUND and Nanjing Road. Children's Palace/Acrobatic Show in the evening August 17 Shanghai Free on your own arrangements for business meetings. August 18 Shanghai-Atlanta Be transferred to airport for KE 898 leaves Shanghai at 13:35 and arrive Seoul at 16:30 and change to KE 33 leaves Seoul at 19:00 and arrive Atlanta at 19:45 the same day
