Program Description:

Interested in a career of helping others? George Fox’s Graduate School of Counseling, shaped by our commitment to an integrated understanding of the Christian faith and mental health, trains graduate-level clinicians.

We offer rigorous academic and clinical training to promote the personal and professional development of students and the relational, psychological, physical and spiritual wholeness of individuals, couples, families, organizations and communities.

Three of our graduate counseling programs – clinical mental health counseling; marriage, couple and family counseling; and school counseling – are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs.

Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MA)
Prepares you to work with clients of all ages, either individually or in group counseling, in private practice, profit or nonprofit. Graduates find employment counseling in child-abuse, youth services, corrections and mental health settings. Many go on to pursue graduate study in education, social work, special education or other health and human services professions.

The 60-credit-hour program is generally two to four years in length. Upon completion, you are prepared to sit for the national licensure exam to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling (MA or Certificate)
Assist couples and families by becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Work knowledgeably as a therapist in a variety of clinical settings, including private, institutional, community, ecclesiastical, ethnic, and culturally and socioeconomically diverse arenas.

The program is generally three to four years in length with 68 semester hours of course work required as a minimum for graduation. Each student must complete a minimum of 20 hours of personal counseling/therapy.

School Counseling (MA or Certificate)
Work with students in public or private schools and consult and collaborate with parents, teachers and administrators to provide a comprehensive school counseling program that assists students in their personal/social, career and academic development.

The program is generally two to four years in length with 57 semester hours of course work (63 for Track II students) required as a minimum for graduation. Upon completion, you’ll be prepared to sit for the Praxis II School Guidance and Counseling specialization test to obtain the Initial School Counseling License.

Education Specialist in School Psychology (EdS or Certificate)
Test and assess K-12 students in public or private schools, analyze test results and discern need areas for children. Careers include jobs that involve developing clinical, educational, cognitive testing/assessment, and report-writing expertise in assisting K-12 children, their families and the school system.

The program is generally three to four years in length with 61 semester hours of course work required as a minimum for graduation. Upon completion, you will be prepared to sit for the Praxis II School Psychologist specialization test to obtain the Initial School Psychology License.
