Program Overview
- Program Description:
- The German Studies Department is proud to conduct one of Emory's longest standing study abroad program. Students without any knowledge of German will take beginning German language classes; students at the intermediate level can complete their second year of German; and more advanced students will study Austrian cultural history from a European perspective (taught in German). One additional optional course in English focuses on the city's rich musical heritage. Because of Austria's position in the heart of Central Europe as well as a gateway to Eastern Europe provide an exemplary educational context for examining longstanding traditions and neglected connections in the region. Because of Austria's rich history, of particular interest is the exploration of socio-cultural phenomena that transcend current political border, such as German-Jewish cultures and German-language.
