Program Description:
The MA in Urban Studies prepares change agents for service in urban communities. Students choose from three concentrations: Community Development, Youth Development and Community Arts. - The Community Development concentration prepares professionals for implementing holistic revitalization efforts in urban communities. Upon completion of the program, students understand how to address complex neighborhood needs in the urban context through careers in non-profit organizations, government, non-governmental agencies, social services, ministries, and parachurch organizations. - The Youth Development concentration prepares professionals to serve youth in an urban context. Upon completion of the program, students are equipped to understand and engage youth as well as provide quality youth development and ministry programs. - The Community Arts concentration prepares creative practitioners to transform communities. This is accomplished by equipping creative practitioners proficient in various art forms (i.e. dance, music, spoken word and poetry, fine arts, multi-media arts) with knowledge of and experience in using their art form as a means of development in both local and global settings
