Program Overview
- Program Description:
- A Bridge Between Art and Technology. You may have interests in traditional studio techniques - sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, metals, and photography. Perhaps you have a desire to learn about emerging techniques in media - 3D animation, gaming, motion capture, visualization, video and special effects, image editing, digital illustration and graphic design. The M.A. in New Media Studio allows graduate students the opportunity to study any number or combination of these subjects. Our students are therefore encouraged to work with the mindset of a convergence of multiple disciplines. Want to use 3D software to envision new sculpture techniques? Would you like to combine animation with charcoal drawings? Want to create an interactive painting? We hope you are the next innovator to develop such techniques here at ETSU. A Valuable Education at an Exceptional Value. Whether you are a returning student seeking to expand your skills, or an artist looking to explore new digital techniques, you will find that the MA in New Media Studio offers what is not available from most other art programs. In addition to a wider range of art-making facilities and the large community of learned faculty members, you get an invaluable dose of personal attention not found at other larger schools. Between the two departments, there are facilities at your disposal that rival other insitutes. Benefits like these are only part of the package. When you factor in the lower costs of the education you receive here together with the lower cost of living in a beautiful region, you will see that it is a winning formula.
