Program Overview

Program Description:
The M.S. in Business Analytics (MSBA) program is a 45 credit hour curriculum that teaches students how to access/analyze data and business processes for the purpose of improved business decision-making. It prepares students to make good business decisions with fact-based insights and an understanding of business performance from a systems view, using statistical and quantitative analysis of data as well as explanatory and predictive modeling. The program draws on the three traditional areas of business intelligence: statistics, to explore and uncover relationships in data; operations research, to develop mathematical models for planning and operations; and management information systems, to access and create databases that support the other two areas. The program is designed for students who have an interest in quantitative methods, data analysis, using computer programs to solve business problems, and want to enter a career in business analytics. The MSBA is a professional master’s degree that introduces students to the methods, tools, and applications of analytics to improve decision-making. The MSBA, which can be completed in less than 24 months, utilizes existing coursework in General Business, Statistics, Operations Management, among others to prepare students for careers in advanced analytics.
