Overview: The DrPH in Health Policy and Social Justice offers a methodologically rigorous doctoral training program in health policy that comprises both formal classroom training and guided research and policy analysis with faculty mentors. This program will prepare students to play strong professional roles in developing and implementing policies that improve public health by focusing on those who are most vulnerable.

The Drexel University School of Public Health is the only accredited school of public health in the Greater Philadelphia Region. The mission of the school is to promote the health of communities through an integrated program of education, research, service and practice. The school enhances the health of communities by creating partnerships based on community values, strengths and assets. To advance this mission, graduates of the DrPH in Health Policy and Social Justice will generate new knowledge about social justice and will use this knowledge in the analysis, evaluation and modification of existing policy as well as the design and delivery of new policy affecting public health practice. This program is the first of its kind offered by an accredited school of public health. It is also the only program focused on the interplay between policy and social justice in the Philadelphia region.

Program Description: As a top-tier research institution, Drexel University provides students with an integrated learning environment that applies general knowledge and skills, research, applied skills and public health practice in Health Policy and Social Justice.

The DrPH program requires students to complete coursework, to complete a practicum, to pass a doctoral examination, and to complete a dissertation of publishable quality on a substantial policy analysis project.
