Program Description:

This course provides individuals currently working in sports physiotherapy with an opportunity to complete advanced studies in sports specific assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. It is designed to enhance knowledge, skills and competence in clinical practice, research and issues related to sports medicine. The emphasis is on an integrated approach between manual therapy, muscle imbalance, deep dynamic myofascial techniques, soft tissue and sports massage. Throughout the course, students review the literature critically and apply this information in the evaluation and management of sports injury problems. Students are provided with the ability to be analytical in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of neuromusculoskeltal injuries. The course includes lecture, laboratory, seminars and clinical placements where assessment, treatment and rehabilitation skills are enhanced and developed in both the club placement and clinical environment. Students also review literature on a number of relevant topics and undertake research to address a specific research question.
