Program Description:

Cornell offers two graduate programs in statistics: the MS/PhD and PhD programs. The PhD program is intended to prepare students for a career in research and teaching; direct admission to the PhD program usually requires a MS degree in statistics or equivalent coursework. The MS/PhD program is intended as the first part of the PhD program and is appropriate if you apply to Cornell with a BA/BS degree or with a Masters degree in a field other than statistics. Completion of the MS/PhD portion of the program typically involves two years ofgraduate-level coursework in statistics and probability. Studentsinterested in a terminal Masters degree are not considered foradmission to either of these two programs.
