Course content and philosophy focuses firmly on providing students of multimedia with the opportunity to further hone and develop their digital media research and design skills in a challenging yet supportive environment that emphasises creativity, innovation and industry relevance. Who Should Apply? The Department welcomes applications from honours degree graduates in multimedia, media design, interactive media or related areas. Some applicants may, in special circumstances, be accepted for enrolment on the basis of a combination of certified and workbased learning. What is a MA in Media Design? The Master of Arts in Media Design is a new award, tuned to the needs of the multimedia industry and specifically designed with multimedia and media design graduates in mind. The programme runs over a nine month period, divided into two equal semesters, the first consists of a range of taught modules and the second is devoted solely to the completion of, according to the choice of the student, a research thesis or a media design project. Flexible delivery and supports form an integral part of the programme. Why study a MA in Media Design? The overall aim of this programme is to produce graduates who can demonstrate a systematic understanding and knowledge of design, development, implementation and research within the expanding digital media sector. Graduates of the programme will be prepared to take a significant role in the multimedia industrywith respect to the initiation, management direction of innovative cutting-edge media design projects. Accreditation The programme is jointly accredited by the Irish Higher Education and Training Awards Council and the University of Applied Sciences, Darmstadt, Germany: it is the only such joint Award in the European Union.
