Program Description:
Columbia College Chicago’s Photography, MFA program emphasizes aesthetic and conceptual development alongside innovative photographic technique. Students become immersed in a curriculum grounded in art history and theory, and develop a sophisticated body of work. Students also have access to extensive and advanced photographic facilities, including a digital imaging lab with more than 120 workstations, highly sophisticated scanning equipment, an assortment of large-format printers, four fully staffed darkrooms, two photography studios, and an inventory of professional lighting and camera equipment. The degree culminates in a thesis exhibition at Columbia’s prestigious Glass Curtain Gallery. Candidates of the Photography, MFA program will: • Have access to highly advanced facilities and equipment • Develop a sophisticated body of work and exhibit it in respected galleries • Enjoy personal attention and critiques by award winning full-time faculty consisting of four Guggenheim Fellows • Gain exposure to the current industry trends through guest lectures by visiting artists
