Program Description:
Columbia College Chicago’s Journalism, MA program focuses on public affairs reporting and combines an essential academic base in political science, and first-hand reporting. The curriculum focuses on issues central to civic life—education, housing, welfare, criminal justice, labor, politics and the electoral process, science, economics, and the arts. This program can be completed in three consecutive semesters of full-time study. Candidates of the Journalism, MA program will: • Learn both the fundamentals of reporting, as well as experience new technology within the ever changing field of journalism • Gain hands-on experience as well as skills and contacts through course assignments and internships with national and local news outlets • Benefit from one-on-one support and attention from a faculty consisting of award-winning professional journalists • Study in downtown Chicago, which boasts one of the largest media markets in North America
