- Special features: The Petroleum Engineering department has an exchange program with the University of Leoben, Austria which allows a student to spend one semester in Austria during graduate studies and receive full transfer credit back to CSM.The department is close to oil and gas field operations, oil companies and laboratories, and geologic outcrops of producing formations. There are many opportunities for summer and part-time work in the oil and gas industry in the Denver metropolitan region.The PhD program of Petroleum Engineering has been accepted as a Western Regional Graduate Program. This allows students residing in Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming to enroll in the CSM program at the Colorado resident tuition rates.
