Our MAT program is 14 months of full time enrollment and starts in June of every year, leading to both a master’s degree and teacher licensure. You proceed through this professional course of study with a cohort of approximately 20 students, providing you with an opportunity to work closely with other students and to build a culture of support and collaboration. CC’s MAT Program is offered in elementary education, K-12 art, music and foreign languages (French, German, Latin or Spanish) and secondary education in English/Language Arts, math, science and social studies.
Key Aspects of CC’s MAT program…
o 14 months, beginning in June of every year
o The Block Plan (total immersion in one class for 3 ½ weeks)

o Structured to gradually increase responsibility in the classroom from observation, practicum, student teaching and finally a semester-long internship experience

Requirements:
*Bachelor’s Degree
*Cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (recommended)
*Grade point average of at least 3.2 in the academic major or teaching field (recommended)
*Strong liberal arts background w/academic record indicating potential for success in graduate school
*Demonstrate successful work with children in the public school classroom (volunteer, co-curricular or substitute teaching)
