If you have always wanted to study abroad in France but didn’t want to deal with the bustle of a major city like Paris, then our Summer in Aix en Provence program is perfect for you! You’ll be able to practice your French in one of the most scenic areas around. Look forward to: A beautiful location- Southern France is known for its breathtaking beauty, with its appealing Mediterranean climate and incredible landscapes. Study abroad in Aix en Provence for some of the best restaurants and historical sites in all of France. A variety of academics- Take courses in French, history, business, and more. French classes are offered at any level! Opportunities to give back- There are numerous chances during your summer in Aix en Provence to participate in service-learning opportunities that will get you involved with the university and the give back to the community. A city that’s easy to get around- Aix en Provence provides the perfect introduction to France, with a downtown area that’s small enough to walk through in 15 minutes but also offers plenty of opportunities to explore!

Summer in Aix en Provence is housed at IAU College. IAU College offers a wide variety of courses taught in English, as well as French-language classes, in the following disciplines: art history, business, history, photography, and the French language (beginner to advanced). The program offers two 3-week sessions that you can combine into one 6-week trip to the lovely south of France. In addition, if your French is advanced (at least 4 college semester of French or the equivalent), you are eligible to enroll in the French Honors Program.

Setting Description:

The city of Aix (pronounced “ex”) en Provence will provide you with the perfect study abroad experience. It boasts one of the best universities in France, and is very welcoming of international students! You’ll be able to make new friends and connections from all over the world during your summer in Aix en Provence. You’ll get a lot of the perks of living in a university town here, with endless concerts, summer festivals, libraries, museums, bookstores, markets, and cafés to choose from. This engaging city is easy to get around- it only takes 15 minutes to walk across the main part of town. Aix is also conveniently located close to the Mediterranean coast, where you can easily get to beaches and seaside towns. If you want to explore the rest of Europe, the nearby Marseille/Provence airport is easy to get to and provides relatively cheap flights across Europe and northern Africa.
