Our internships are customized to match your interests; internships last a minimum of 6 weeks, but we encourage you to stay as long as you can. As an intern in Barcelona, an international center for business, commerce, politics, and a wide variety of industries, you will take part in the fascinating day-to-day activities of a Spanish organization or company. You will work on projects, tasks, and activities designed to help you learn more about your field of interest. You can select a 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 week internship and choose from several start dates. We encourage you to stay as long as you can to learn the language, get the most out of your internship placement, and immerse yourself in the local culture. The internship program is open to all levels of Spanish speakers. However, intermediate to advanced speakers will have more placement options than beginners. Depending on the length of your internship, you will also participate in either a 1- or 2-week on-site Spanish-language course to refresh your skills. In a privileged position on the northeastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula and the shores of the Mediterranean (near France), Barcelona is the second-largest city in Spain in both size and population. The population of the city proper is 1.5 million, but this number spirals to nearly 5 million if the outlying areas are included. Barcelona has 2 official languages: Castilian Spanish and Catalan, which is generally spoken in all of Catalonia.
