Program Overview
- Program Description:
- FIFA/CIES International University Network was founded in 2004. It brings together universities from all over the world. Its key objective, with the support of its academic partners, is to improve the skills of sports managers at the level of federations, clubs, small sports associations, government and municipal entities. For that purpose, the Network has created one common curriculum of continuing education, the FIFA/CIES Programme in Sport Management, taught at all the partner universities. Moreover, ad hoc seminars and conferences devoted to essential themes for effective sport management are regularly organised in the framework of the FIFA/CIES Network. The activities of the FIFA/CIES International University Network are not for profit. Vision We develop cooperation based on academic excellence, an open-minded approach to the world and respect for our partners. We are considered as exemplary and reliable “fellow team members” throughout the world. Mission The FIFA/CIES International University Network creates and develops partnerships in the field of sport management, with a constant focus on excellence. Our ambition is to be recognized as a reference in education thanks to the quality of our academic and administrative contributions, our desire to understand the real needs of our partners and to offer concrete solutions, and our commitment to respect and honesty in our relationships. Objectives to be a reference in academic training in the field of sport management, to be open to the world and its diversity, to be responsive to our partners (universities, students, sports institutions) and to stay in constant dialogue with them. Cooperation concept In the framework of the FIFA/CIES Programme in Sport Management, the FIFA/CIES Network offers universal course content on sport management. The partner universities are responsible for adapting the content to national needs, realities and specificities so as to maximise the benefits of the curriculum. Moreover, the FIFA/CIES Network offers a series of conferences by reputed professors and experts in the sports industry, in order to give students an international perspective on sports-related issues. The FIFA/CIES Programme in Sport Management Programme is a multidisciplinary curriculum of continuing education. It consists of 150-200 hours of courses. Currently available in 14 countries ( Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Peru, Senegal, South Africa, Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, Turkey and Venezuela), it is taught in the local language of the partner universities (French, English, Spanish, Turkish, Arabic, Portuguese). The objective of the FIFA/CIES Programme in Sport Management to give students the broadest possible vision of management in modern sport. It is also to offer them management tools to allow them to run their federation, association or club efficiently, taking into account the specificities and realities of their local environment. Format Chosen by each partner university in accordance with local needs, the format of the FIFA/CIES Programme in Sport Management allows students to attend academic courses while continuing their professional activities. Students Students are chosen in accordance with a selection procedure which is similar for all the partner universities (see below). The students correspond to three general profiles: people who are already active in the world of sport at professional or amateur level (elected officials or employees of federations, leagues or clubs, employees of business, volunteers in associations, staff of public bodies) who wish to acquire fundamental tools for sport management or to adapt their knowledge to the new realities of the world of sport, people who are not active in the world of sport (lawyers, economists, journalists, etc.) who wish to diversify, broaden or give a new focus to their professional horizons, young graduates who have just completed their studies and wish to start a career in the world of sport.
