Program Description:
The College of Educational Studies announces a pioneering leadership degree program that can be completed in 15-24 months. It will be taught by exceptionally devoted and qualified faculty, who are signaling our recognition that leadership depends on not just local but global knowledge, not just a focus on content and task outcomes, but on relationships and critical processes, not just on maintaining the status quo, but a capacity to be creative and innovative in driving purposeful and sustained change. In exploring the MLD, you may see yourself working: * In schools * As an internal/external leadership development consultant to organizations and communities * In the public, non-profit, or even private sectors The Masters of Arts in Leadership Development (MLD) not only develops leaders, but develops leaders who are capable of shaping leadership in others. Modeling the core values of the CES: self-awareness, caring, courage, service, affirming diversity and civic engagement, the MLD will appeal to a wide range of professionals and educationally, diverse settings. This groundbreaking program is 30 graduate units and includes a Self-Designed Component (3-6 units) within the program, so you can makes choices and take greater charge of your own learning. There is a theory or foundational core of 12 units, an applied inquiry core of 6 units, an elective plan of 9 units and a Leadership Development Capstone Project of 3 units at the end. The program develops leaders who serve purposes that transcend themselves and work for the common good of all. These leaders find their passion and purpose in solid communication with others who wish to collaborate towards achieving desired outcomes.
