- Chapman University has been approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) to offer special education credential programs (i.e., Education Specialist Preliminary Credential Programs) in the areas of: mild/moderate, moderate/severe, Level II mild/moderate and moderate/severe. The Education Specialist Programs prepare candidates to serve as special education teachers in K-12 public schools in primarily, inclusive, resource, and when necessary, special day class settings. These credentials can be completed over a period of three or four semesters. Note that the credentials can also be included within the MA in Special Education. The Education Specialist Credentials include: mild/moderate, moderate/severe, Level II mild/moderate and moderate/severe.
