The Economics program at Central European University (CEU) , designed for applicants with a solid analytical background, offers a cutting-edge curriculum in methods and applications in Economics. 

Aims of the program:

It aims at preparing students for highly ranked doctoral programs, as well as positions in public service, international organizations and private corporations. 

The research-oriented training at CEU combines courses in core areas, with a focus on applications in a variety of fields in Economics. Supported by dedicated, renowned faculty throughout, the curriculum is on a par with the most prestigious graduate programs in the U.S. and Europe.  Students learn about the latest issues and methods in standard economics, including economic theory and analysis, and their applications in evaluating, understanding and tackling real-world matters. The program concludes with an MA thesis on students’ research interests.

Students enrolling in the research track in the program have the opportunity to complete a substantial part of the PhD-level coursework requirements at CEU under the guidance of an early doctoral advisor, with the possibility of continuing their studies in the PhD in Economics program at CEU.
