Program Overview

Program Description:

Industry is innovating like never before, and a new generation of leaders is needed to harness technology and big data to propel organizations—and society—forward. Carnegie Mellon University’s Master of Information Systems Management (MISM) program blends technical and leadership skills, equipping you with the ability to transform organizations through technology.

The MISM program—offered by CMU’s Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy—is the elite degree for students who will become the next generation of technology leaders. Information systems management is one of the fastest growing job markets and one of the most crucial needs for today's organizations.

MISM is an ideal fit for students who not only wish to design and implement technology, but wish to be leaders in this space with the ability to drive business decisions, communicate value, manage projects, and inspire others. The world's top firms across technology, finance, retail, and consulting seek our MISM graduates, who often earn six-figure salaries right out of school.

The MISM program is available in five challenging pathways:

  • Our flagship 16-month and 12-month programs in Pittsburgh
  • Our industry-leading Business Intelligence and Data Analytics (BIDA) program in 16-month and 12-month formats
  • Our exciting dual-city Global option, which begins at CMU’s Australia campus in Adelaide.

Regardless of the direction you take, our MISM program builds tech leaders who are the full package: Analytical. Creative. Ethical.
