Program Description:

Bluffton University’s MBA program is designed so that students receive a unique education that allows them to Lead Differently not only within their organizations but within an ever-changing global society. In addition to a strong foundation of traditional coursework, our MBA program focuses on leadership development and is aimed at helping students understand management and leadership from the perspective of a servant leader.

Students that already hold an MBA can complete each concentration for a stand alone certification.

PROGRAM CHARACTERISTICS

MBA WITH AN ACCOUNTING AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT CONCENTRATION
The accounting and financial management concentration prepares students for leadership in the functional areas of finance and accounting in both for-profit and nonprofit contexts. Students aspiring to a position as controller or chief financial officer will benefit from this concentration. The content of the courses focuses on categories of practice that are included in Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exams. Eligibility includes having completed 18 semester hours of undergraduate accounting courses. This four-course concentration has one course in year one and three in year two.

MBA WITH A HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT CONCENTRATION
The health care management concentration will help students understand the economic and political environment of health care institutions, develop basic principles of health care financial management and familiarize themselves with the tools to understand and manage issues in the delivery of health care.

MBA WITH A LEADERSHIP CONCENTRATION
The leadership concentration within the Bluffton MBA is designed for the person who is preparing for executive leadership roles in a wide range of organizational contexts. The courses address the nature of the supervisory relationship, the leader’s level of self-understanding and emotional intelligence and the role of the leader as an agent of organizational change.

MBA WITH A PRODUCTION AND OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT CONCENTRATION
This concentration prepares students for positions in industrial research and design, operations management and supply chain management. The concentration was developed based on the recommendations of area industrial leaders. Courses introduce production operations process concepts, a discussion of supervisory roles in manufacturing and application of advanced operations-related quantitative tools.
