Program Overview

Program Description:
The Spain Summer Study Abroad program provides an opportunity for both Berklee and non-Berklee students from around the world to earn undergraduate college credit at Berklee. The campus is located in Valencia, Spain in the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, one of Valencia’s most recognized architectural marvels.

All classes are taught by Berklee faculty from both our Valencia and Boston campuses. The state-of-the-art technological resources of the Valencia campus give students a dynamic and intimate environment in which to experience an enriching selection of courses and study with leading artists and professors. The program is a truly unique Berklee experience with a mix of technology, musical inspiration and practical experience while living on the vibrant Mediterranean coast for either three or six weeks.

Eligibility
The program is open to Berklee and non-Berklee students from around the world. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and have completed minimum one year of college.

Music Production and Technology
The music production and technology module is designed to give music students a comprehensive overview of the tools and technology used in the industry today. You will get hands-on experience using the latest software and have the opportunity to learn in our state-of-the-art recording studios. If you love music and are passionate about technology, this is the perfect way to spend your summer and add a new skill set to your repertoire.

Music and Entertainment Business
If you are always thinking of ways to innovate antiquated business models of the music and entertainment industry, this module is for you. During an intensive program, spend time with Berklee faculty and peers from around the world sharpening your knowledge in marketing, management, and legal aspects of international music business.

Film Scoring
If you are a composer interested in learning about scoring for film and interactive media (video games), then this is the program for you. Students will be immersed in the aesthetic relationship between media and music and narrative analysis. They will also receive an introduction to the technology involved in this industry, such as MIDI/audio sequencing in scoring to picture and maximizing dramatic expression through the use of available software tools.

Located on the Mediterranean coast with endless beaches, Valencia is the third largest city in Spain. Berklee's Valencia campus is located in the heart of the iconic City of Arts and Sciences complex, one of the most recognized tourist attractions in Valencia.

The campus is an intimate setting where striving musicians, performers, technologists, composers and creatives come together to thrive. You'll find a state-of-the-art scoring stage and recording studios, where students learn to be the producers and engineers of tomorrow, while student performers learn how to get the most out of a recording session. There are two technology labs with the latest hardware and software, practice rooms, ensemble space, and classrooms that inspire the next great idea.
