Program Overview

Program Description:
The Department of Mathematics in the Weissman School of Liberal Arts and Sciences of Baruch College offers a Master of Science Program in Financial Engineering (MFE). The program can be completed in three semesters of full-time study, or five to six semesters of part-time study. All courses are offered after 6pm.

The curriculum provides the mathematical background required for modeling and solving problems that arise in the financial services industry. The program combines a rigorous treatment of the underlying mathematical concepts with a strong emphasis on computational techniques and their practical application in finance. We prepare our students to know how to solve real-world problems, and have the communication skills necessary to present their work.

As of September 2006, 84% of our graduates, and 94% of our December 2005 graduates, are working in the financial industry.
