Program Description:
Global Learning. For Communication Professionals. The MA in Corporate Communication housed in Baruch College's accredited Weissman School of Arts and Sciences is a professional masters program with classes taught by tenure-track faculty, unlike other masters programs in corporate communication available in New York City. Students develop the advanced communication capabilities needed to manage corporate image, reputation, and identity. Seminars offer unlimited opportunities to hone the oral, written, and analytic skills required to evaluate and resolve a variety of complex issues, and advise executives on strategic actions. The comprehensive 36-credit program can be completed by full-time students in three semesters, or by part-time students in two and one-half years. Courses provide mastery in communication theory, instruction in qualitative and quantitative research methods, and the preparation to implement strategic communication decisions. Contemporary topics include reputation management, crisis communication, investor relations, media relations, international communication, corporate identity management, corporate advertising, and corporate intranet and social media. Students work individually and in teams on case studies and class projects. They may choose experiential learning opportunities such as an internship and the study-abroad program. Seminars and experiential opportunities prepare students to meet the challenges of devising ingenious solutions to complex issues across a wide range of career paths. Public and private companies, non-profit organizations, and government agencies recognize the vital importance of seasoned communication professionals at all levels of business.
