Program Description:

Students majoring or minoring in English gain practical experience from professors who are scholars and experts in a variety of literary and interdisciplinary fields. The curriculum emphasizes understanding of major periods and their literature and offers students the chance to explore specific areas of interest. Students are taught skills in research and writing that allow them to engage in creative responses to human experiences through exploration of ideas, values and artistic achievements. English courses are almost always small in size, allowing students to hone these special abilities.
