Program Description:
The clinical/counseling program in psychology at Augusta State University is MPAC accredited and provides intensive master's degree level education. The clinical/counseling track meets the educational requirements for the LPC license in Georgia. Coursework is offered in psychological assessments, individual and group psychotherapies, research methods, and foundation psychology courses. The Augusta area provides a wealth of internship experiences for our students including placements at the Augusta VAMC, the Medical College of Georgia, and Eisenhower Army Hospital at Fort Gordon. The Psychology Department prides itself on careful mentoring of students. Faculty interests include anxiety disorders, eating disorders, compulsive behaviors, neuropsychology, interpersonal aggression, bullying, geropsychology, consumer behavior, psychopharmacology, and transitions across the lifespan. The program can also provide preparation for further graduate education.
