Program Description:

Medical transcription is a one-year certificate program which prepares graduates to function as medical transcriptionists in various health care settings. Upon completion of the required course work, the student is awarded a certificate. A medical transcriptionist word processes physician dictation from pre-recorded tapes. Such reports include histories, physicals, consultations, operations, and x-rays. As a required part of the curriculum, students complete a non-paid clinical experience in a health care setting for six weeks, transcribing medical dictation.
