Program Description:

The Hispanic Studies Program offers semester-long courses taught both in Spanish and in English in areas such as art, business, economics, history, political science and many others. Spanish language courses are offered at six levels and include classes such as business Spanish, conversation, phonetics, reading & composition and translation. The program also offers courses in English in biology and chemistry (with a lab component) as well as in psychology and medical anthropology.

The International Center Was officially founded in 2002 although the University began a program for international students in the fall of 2001. The Center currently offers a variety of programs open to students from all over the world. The most popular is the semester-long Hispanic Studies Program with courses both in Spanish and in English. The Center also offers the University Integration Program (P.I.U.) for students with advanced Spanish language skills, a Spanish Language and Culture Program, courses in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language and Spanish language courses throughout the year. The Center also offers courses in the summer. As of March 1, 2008, the Center is accredited by the Cervantes Institute.

Setting Description:

Students who score at the Advanced II level on their Spanish Placement Exam may enroll in up to two regular university courses. If the courses with the Spanish students are conducted in English, this language requirement is waived. For a list of course offerings with Spanish students (in the University Integration Program.
