Firbush

I journeyed to the town of Killin up in the highlands of Scotland with other American study abroad students to a outdoors resort called Firbush this past weekend and was amazed by the open beauty.  On Saturday, we hiked up a mountain-side.  I met two friends (Will and Jacob) who are also studying in Glasgow, and was delighted by the fact that they were both quite good singers and actually knew some scottish tunes.  It gave a magic quality to the cold mountain air.

Memories of home

I only had a half day of scheduled work today, so, as I walked home at 2pm I followed a whim and wandered into the Kelvingrove Museum & Galleries.  The lovely thing about Scotland is that the museums are all free which provides the opportunity to go in, walk around for about a half hour, find an art pieve that moves me, and let that be that.  As I stared at nature scenes made of brushstrokes and vases painted with flowers,I remembered the graden which my mother loves so much back home.

When Your Roommate Sucks, Rebellion Lies in the Kitchen

When you’re a backpacker – namely, one who’s just graduated from college – living accommodations in your budget range aren’t exactly plush. From overbearing landlords to hostel rooms stuffed with bunk beds, sometimes it’s enough to make you nostalgic for that cramped dorm room, socks on doorknob and all.

Trainspotting

Saturday night, Raghad and I decided to watch Trainspotting together.  It was so incredibly hard to watch the movie.  First, we tried borrowing it from a friend, but he couldn't find it anywhere.  Then, we tried to find it online somewhere, but we didn't have a VGA cable.  After borrowing one from the guys downstairs, we realized that we didn't have a sound cable.

Directing =)

I am officially directing a student project called "An Addict's Best Friend" written by Tarjei, starring Sammy, Raghad, and Ahd.  It deals with a heroin addict and the effect the drug has on his relationship with his best friend.  I am planning a ritualistic beginning and ending sequence showing the process of shooting up, and planning on using some of The Doors' music to set the mood.  It will be fantastic!  P.s. Dear Mom, don't worry, it's just a play!!!
