August 1st, 2008 · 4 Comments

45 University of Delaware students and 3 faculty members arrived in China this week to begin a 4 week long study abroad program.

The program, run by the Department of Health, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences will allow the students to get (what may be) a once in lifetime experience of combing their studies and the Olympic games.

In addition to and excusions to Olympic venue sites during the games the students will also see some of the other sites of China and have access to Chinese faculty involved with the Olympics.

I think it’s great that the number of students studying in Beijing has jumped from the previous years! Beijing is such a dynamic city to begin with; it’s already an amazing location for a study abroad. It’s a great place to become immersed in another culture- and to experience culture shock head on as you familiarize yourself with Chinese customs. Being able to witness the events of the Olympics, WHILE learning about a completely different country and city is a HUGE plus! I’m sure that many many students will want to return to Beijing and China.
