While the trend for US students to study abroad is in Western Europe there are opportunities in the developing world to study and have a positive impact on the local community.
Illinois Wesleyan prides itself on an education that prepares students to be part of a “global society” and offers programs with the School for International Training (SIT) in the developing world to do just that.
“I transferred from another university to Illinois Wesleyan so that I could spend a semester in Africa,” said Jacob Weis, who will study this fall in Kampala, Uganda’s capital city, and will also visit Rwanda as part of an Illinois Wesleyan-affiliated study abroad program with SIT.

Studying abroad is a great opportunity for an individual to grow and learn in a greater perspective which in return he can share it to his local community..Education is something that one can treasure..

Great point brent. Getting a bigger perspective on school, the world, life will change the way you think and when you return home you are going to look at many things differently.
