Animal Behavior Lessons From Kenya

June 26th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Holly Mincks, a student at Michigan State University, had a chance to get up close to study animals she had only seen on television as part of her study abroad program, Behavioral Ecology of African Mammals in Kenya. Her love for animals and pursuit of her studies brought her to Kenya.

“It was just the experience of a lifetime,” said the recent MSU graduate who is currently applying for veterinary school. She’s spending her summer working for Dr. R. Dean Kirkland at Wayside Veterinary Clinic in Clinton.

Destinations like Kenya are a great alternative to more expensive destinations in Europe and even Australia. I spent time in both Kenya and France and the education I received in Kenya was equal if not superior to the one I received in France.

Excellent point. Making a student’s study abroad dollar get more is largely tied to location.
