UNC’s Study Abroad Office has awarded scholarships to 40 students for study abroad for this summer and for the fall. The total dollar amount of scholarship is approximately $99,000 in privately funded, need- and merit-based scholarships.
“We are excited to be able to award so many scholarships, especially given the weakness of the U.S. dollar, increases in the cost of airfares and other factors that are raising the cost of studying abroad,” said Bob Miles, associate dean for study abroad and international exchanges in the College. “The generosity of our alumni is enabling more and more Carolina students to participate in an academic program abroad.”
The UNC scholarship students are studying in cities around the world, including Beijing; Cape Town, South Africa; Dublin, Ireland; Montevideo, Uruguay; and Amman, Jordan
